As it's New Year's Eve here in Australia, it seems like a good time to reflect on the events of the last year before moving into 2009. Here's the scoop!
Note: Majestic was the original name for Injader - more on that later.
January saw the following releases:
Majestic 1.3.4 was released on February 8th. No other releases appeared in February, as a larger upgrade was in development.
On February 23rd, the old Help Forum was replaced with a simple forum created as part of Injader itself. Who needs plugins?
February 29th introduced the Feature Tour so you can get a better idea of what Injader does.
This was a busy month with the following releases:
Several new releases this month:
Also, On Blogging Australia noted that Majestic could be a serious competitor to WordPress.
May was the 3rd anniversary of the very first version of Majestic.
There were more releases:
Also, Blogging Sueblimely highlighted Majestic as an alternative to WordPress.
But the biggest changes came on May 30th, when Majestic changed to Injader and went open source.
After the major changes in May, June was fairly quiet. Injader 1.6.1 was released on June 8th, and work commenced on Injader 2.0.0. Some changes to the website and the forums followed, but there wasn't much else to report at this stage.
After two weeks of beta testing, Injader 2.0.0 was released on July 23rd. This update included the removal of file areas along with some improvements in other areas. The main reason for moving to version 2 was due to the large number of changes to the back-end.
Also, I wrote a guest post at Blogging Sueblimely, entitled Injader - A focused project.
August saw two new releases:
I also wrote some new posts on the Injader blog:
Just one new release this month - Injader 2.0.3 - released on September 6th.
Blog updates:
October was the only month without a new release of Injader. This was due to Injader 2.1.0 being in development for some time. I did set up the Injader Help Wiki though.
After lengthy alpha and beta testing, Injader 2.1.0 was finally released on November 17th. This version included a brand new theme system. Because the release contained so many changes, I followed up with a blog post explaining more about Injader 2.1.0.
This month was all about security. New releases:
After that, security patches were released for Injader 1.6.1, 2.0.3, and 2.1.2.
Finally, I posted about support ending for Injader 1.6.1 as of March 31st, 2009.
If 2008 is anything to go by - a lot!
Injader 2.1.3 is currently in progress, and will include small changes and fixes. This is likely to continue for a few more releases before some bigger stuff is added in.
The main thing I'd like to get done is to write a working WordPress import script so you can migrate your content to Injader. I tried this in 2008 but it didn't work too well for large sites, so I'm going to give it another try.
I'd also like to define the goals of Injader much more clearly and help you decide if Injader is for you. I want to promote the system much more widely, something I haven't done much of due to certain changes needing to be completed first. 2.0.0 and 2.1.0 included the last big changes I wanted to do before promoting Injader to more people. Now is the time to start spreading the word.
This list is by no means exhaustive. If there are things you'd like to see from Injader in 2009, just let me know and I'll see what I can do. In the meantime, thanks for all your support throughout 2008, and let's make 2009 the year of Injader!
Happy New Year!
Injader 1.6.1 was released on June 8th, 2008. Since then, several significant changes have been made to Injader:
Security patches will continue to be released for Injader 1.6.1 until March 31st, 2009. From then on, we will not be able to support this version any longer.
You are strongly recommended to upgrade to Injader 2.0.3 as soon as possible.
Upgrading to Injader 2.1.2 (currently the latest version) is a good idea too, but as you will need to rebuild your theme, we will continue to support Injader 2.0.3 for the time being.
In the meantime, as this is likely to be the last blog post before the 25th, I hope you have a great Christmas!
I've just found a security issue with the login form. All versions of Injader are affected. It is highly recommended that you apply this patch immediately.
I have released a patch, as with the previous update this will fix the affected file but will not update the version number in the AdminCP. If you haven't already applied the previous patch, for your convenience I have combined that patch with this one.
The patch you need depends on the version of Injader you're currently running. To avoid confusion with the full downloads these files are hosted at Injader.com and not SourceForge.
Please refer to: Injader 2.1.2.P1 - you will find a download link on that page.
Please start by upgrading to Injader 2.1.2. When you've upgraded, use the patch link shown above.
Please refer to: Injader 2.0.3.P1 - you will find a download link on that page.
Please start by upgrading to Injader 2.0.3. When you've upgraded, use the patch link shown above.
Please refer to: Injader 1.6.1.P1 - you will find a download link on that page.
Please start by upgrading to Injader 1.6.1. When you've upgraded, use the patch link shown above. Older versions are no longer supported, so it is very important that you upgrade as soon as possible.
This is an important security upgrade - do not ignore it, upgrade now. Apologies for the inconvenience caused.
Note: If you are currently using Injader 2.1.2, this announcement does not apply to you.
Security changes have just been released for Injader 1.6.1 and Injader 2.0.3.
You can find these fixes on the following pages: Browse all Injader releases at SourceForge
The ZIP files include two files that should be uploaded to your site. They should overwrite the existing files with the same names.
Please note that these patches will not update the version number displayed in the Admin Control Panel. Your site will still appear to be using 1.6.1 or 2.0.3. This is to avoid conflicts in the upgrade script.
This upgrade includes important security fixes, bug fixes and a couple of minor changes. Thanks again to fuzion for identifying the security issues in previous versions.
Details of what's changed can be found in the Injader 2.1.2 Release Notes.
